Beware! You're in for a Scare: The Ultimate Terror Movies to give you Goosebumps

With ghouls and monsters, from blood curling screams to complete insanity, Horror movies has always been a source of fascination and scares at the same intense. In the redundant routines of the current world we are looking for something to sweep us off our feet’s and to give us a dose of entertainment such movies prove to be the right medium. Join me on a journey of frights as I take you through some all-time horror favorites. From old to the new, these will surely pack a much-needed spooky punch.

1)A Nightmare on Elm Street (1984)
Written and directed by Wes Craven, the story revolves around a mangled and burned monstrous man who is killing teenagers in their sleep. He comes to them in a dream, preying on their fears and as a result, they die in real life. With visually haunting scenes and extremely unsettling environment, this movie franchise is perfect for binge watching with friends and family alike. Oh and the side effects may include sleeplessness.

2) The Shining (1980)
The horror and mystery genre fans adore the Stephen King’s take on all things dark. The Shining is a maddening horror thriller about a writer and his family who visit a hotel that has a supernatural presence. The writer, Jack Nicholson, starts going crazy after being haunted and terrorized by the eerie happenings.

3) Get out (2017)
This Oscar winning psycho horror is sure to give you goosebumps of fright. A black guy goes on to visit his very loving white girlfriend’s parents at their estates. That is when things start going seriously wrong. The so-called normal family holds some very dark secrets, secrets that they will kill for to keep. With excellent writing score and some amazing acting, this movie is a must-watch for any suspense junkie.

4)The Babadook (2014)
An absolute terror, The Babadook is the perfect horror. A troubled and grieving widow is mourning the loss of her dead husband and trying to raise a boy on her own. A pop up monster book about a creature by the same name is found by the boy; a creature that threatens anyone who doesn’t believe in its existence. Following the find, the woman starts going through insomnia and psychological disturbances by the sinister presence. One of the scariest flicks in the recent history, this one should not to be seen alone.

5) Coraline (2009)
It is the Halloween and well it should be scary for the whole family. So stream this Tim Burton classic for the kids, which is in-fact an amazing treat for the adults as well. The animation is about the adventures of a young girl who isn’t satisfied with her life and considers her life dull and boring. She finds a secret doorway to a parallel universe in the new house that they recently moved to. Life is colorful and fun on the other side but is it really so? She soon finds out that not all that glitters is gold.

6) The Reaping (2007)
We’ve all heard the term “to instill the fear of God” in someone. This movie may practically do just that. Starring Hilary Swank, the film starts with strange occurrences, which are unexplainable. An investigative scholar, Hilary rejects the paranormal and superstitious malice by shedding light on the scientific end of it all. She’s in for a surprise when a little town in Louisiana starts experiencing the deadly biblical plagues which even she cannot comprehend. Fear inducing imagery and heart probing portrayal makes this film a definite Halloween flick.

7) The Sixth Sense (1999)
Of all the paranormal stories, I simply couldn’t give up on this one. Extremely satisfying, with almost perfect scenarios, The Sixth Sense never loses its impact. An award winning child psychologist tries to help a young boy who claims to see the dead people. The story unfolds beautifully and the audience is completely lost in feeling what the characters feel, living breathing with them. A hauntingly mesmerizing horror flick that speaks of loss and the way we deal with it.

8) The Conjuring (2013 and onwards)
Based on the case files of the Warrens, Conjuring franchise has continuously grown with time, bringing terrifyingly good horror movies to audiences around the world. No one is unaffected by the extremely well played and portrayed characters as well as the real time horrors and terrors. So count these in and binge watch over the weekend for some chills and screams.

9) Veronica (2017)
Inspired by true events, this Netflix original is at once ghastly as well as being absolutely nerve wrenching. Three young girls use an Ouija board to summon one of the girls father’s spirit but end up with an evil presence that is not ready to leave. The movie is too disturbing to watch alone and so is perfect for a scare.

You may need a dependable internet connection to enjoy these movies in high-resolution which is how they are meant to be watched in actuality. Take a peek at your local uverse internet prices to find a suitable package for yourself. There are so many old and new movies coming up by the days as the horror industry is becoming more progressive, the audiences hungrier for stories that are more relatable. Enjoy these and more to give yourself the perfect dose of scares and entertainment at the same instance.
