Kate Wiener named Noguchi Museum Assistant Curator
Prior to joining the Museum, Ms. Wiener was most recently Curatorial Assistant in the Department of Education and Public Engagement at the New Museum.



NEW YORK, NY.- Brett Littman, Director, The Isamu Noguchi Foundation and Garden Museum, has announced the appointment of Kate Wiener as the Museum’s Assistant Curator. In this position, she will support all activities of the curatorial department, including exhibition development and implementation; research on Isamu Noguchi’s life and work; publications; and the production of Noguchi’s editioned works. She will additionally oversee public programs related to exhibitions, the collection, and the artist.

Mr. Littman says, “On behalf of the Board of Trustees and staff, I am delighted to welcome Kate Wiener to The Noguchi Museum. The Museum has a broad and complex brief, from advancing the understanding and appreciation of the artist’s work and legacy, to demonstrating his ongoing relevance, managing and preserving his archives, producing scholarly publications, and more. Kate’s proven passion and talent for research and scholarship, combined with her experience developing and producing exhibitions and public programs, make her a superb fit for the Museum.”

Ms. Wiener adds, “I am thrilled to be joining The Noguchi Museum, and look forward to working with its talented team. The Museum is a model for an expanded approach to public engagement and scholarship, and I am eager to contribute to its unique mission.”

Prior to joining the Museum, Ms. Wiener was most recently Curatorial Assistant in the Department of Education and Public Engagement at the New Museum, in New York City. While there, she contributed to the research and development of artist residencies and exhibitions, developed and facilitated a variety of public programs including performances, panels, and symposia, and worked on numerous publications as an editor and project manager, among other achievements.

Kate Wiener received her BA from Carleton College in 2013 and her MA in Modern & Contemporary Art from the Williams College Graduate Program in the History of Art in 2016.
