SANTA BARBARA, CA.- Museum benefactor Joseph B. Koepfli, 100, died. He was a California Institute of Technology chemistry researcher and he helped start the Los Angeles County Museum of Art. He was a trustee, treasurer and benefactor of the museum. He joined the board of the Los Angeles County Museum of History, Science and Art, now called the Natural History Museum, in 1953 and worked for several years to create a different art museum. He gave the museum money to acquire around 40 artworks. In 1962 he became a trustee of the art museum in 1962. From 1970 to 1974 he was treasurer and retired in 1977. He was then named an honorary life trustee.
