LONG BEACH, CALIFORNIA.- Long Beach Arts, celebrating its 80th year, announces two Calls for Entries, "Nearly All Media" and "Imaginary Places/Real Spaces" Exhibitions.

TIMELINES - Nearly All Media; Slides, Entry Form and Fee: Received by December 15, 2004. Exhibition Dates: January 15 to February 19, 2005. Reception and Awards: Sunday, January 16, 2 to 4 p.m. (Accepted artwork delivery will be January 8 & 9, 2005.) Juror: Chris Sullivan. Chris Sullivan is a highly motivating teacher, inspiring painter, and respected juror. A graduate of the University of California at Davis, Chris has taught watercolor and mixed media classes for twenty-four years at Coastline Community College, in Orange County. She has also been an assistant for the Rex Brandt Painting School, a watercolor instructor at Saddleback College, and has conducted numerous workshops in watercolor, mixed media, drawing and creativity both here and abroad.

Her paintings have been included in Watercolor West, Brand XVIII, the Rocky Mountain National, Long Beach Open, as well as at the Orange County Museum of Art, Laguna Art Museum, Ontario Art Museum, and the San Bernardino Museum. She was an exhibitor for years at the Laguna Beach Festival of the Arts and is a signature member of Watercolor West.

Imaginary Places/Real Spaces- Slides, Entry Form and Fee: Received by January 22, 2005. Exhibition Dates: February 26 to April 2, 2005. Reception and Awards: Sunday, February 27, 2 to 4 p.m. (Accepted artwork delivery will be February 20 & 21, 2005.) Juror: Christopher Miles. Artist, curator, writer, teacher, Christopher Miles wears many hats in the arts environment. Miles' writings have also appeared in Artforum, Artforum.com, Art in America, Artweek, Flaunt, Frieze, as well as the L.A. Times, Art Nexus, Art Papers, Art Scene, assorted exhibition catalogs, and many more! He is one of three curators working on Thing: New Sculpture from Los Angeles, opening at the Hammer Museum in February 2005. Currently an Assistant Professor of Art Theory and Criticism at California State University, Long Beach, he has also taught Claremont Graduate University, UCLA, UC Santa Barbara, and the University of Southern
California.

Long Beach Arts (LBA) is a non-profit art organization, established in 1924 as an on-going collaborative venture between local artists and the community, providing a forum for all ages and backgrounds.
