How to Paint By Numbers?

Paint By Numbers is becoming increasingly popular among people of all ages. They have restored the passion for painting among many people now. If you have just received a paint by numbers kit and want to make the best of it, you have come to the right place. Before we move on the actual technique of painting by numbers, here is a little bit of know-how that can benefit you:

Now that you know everything there is to know about diamond paint by number, here is a way to get started:

Deciding your Kit:
If you have not purchased your adult paint by numbers kit yet, choose one right now. Acrylic painting is easier for beginners since it dries much faster than oil paint and can be manipulated with water. Oil paint is more suited for people who already have a sense of painting from an earlier time and know what to expect.

We recommend that you read all the instructions that come on the kit before you get started.

Work in a Clean and Organized Environment:
Clear an area for your activity so that you don’t dirty anything. Collect all your supplies including paintbrushes of different sizes (mostly small, round brushes) and a few containers of clear water. We suggest using one container of water for just manipulating paint, one for rinsing out the paint from the brush, and then one to remove remaining paint from the brush after you have dried it off.

Set Your Canvas:
Set your paint by numbers canvas on your work area and begin. You should apply a layer of clear gesso on your paint by numbers canvas to help the colors appear a bit more vibrant. You can easily buy clear gesso from any art store, and you can make your own at home as well!

Know Your Brushes:
You gotta know your brushes a little as well. Use a number zero round brush to outline the details on each shape. Remember to never dip your brush in different containers without washing it since it will contaminate the paint and give it an unsightly hue. You can use slightly larger brushes for larger areas, but nothing works as well as a fine-tipped small round brush for outlining the jagged perimeter of the shapes.

Mixing Paint:
You might notice two numbers written on one shape for which you need to mix the two colors that correspond to those numbers, usually in equal amounts. For mixing two different paints, get a mixing pallet or a small plate. Take one of the paints in a brush and place it in the mixing pallet. Then, rinse your brush off and take the other paint, in the same amount, and mix it thoroughly with the other color in the pallet.

Applying Paint:
Be gentle when you are applying paint on the canvas. If you work on it too vigorously, you can easily damage your brushes. Take care of working meticulously on the outlines as well.

Try to pick one color and fill in all the necessary areas before working with a different color. This will minimize any chances of contamination. Always clean your brush thoroughly after finishing your work with one color in order to prevent contamination and buildup on the brush.

Here are some stunning reasons why you would love paint by numbers.

Do the same for the areas with mixed colors. Make sure you mix just enough color at one time to make it work on all the areas of the canvas that need that color.

Also, remember to close the lid of the paint containers after you have taken the desired amount on your paintbrush.
