DALLAS, TX.- The collection offered in The Curated Home Auction Sept. 16 at Heritage Auctions was built around a far-ranging collection of distinctive furniture and objects, including important examples that will stand out in fine collections to decorative pieces that will serve as focal points in traditional to modernist homes.

A Pair of Monumental Thomire French Empire Patinated and Gilt Bronze Thirteen-Light Candelabras (estimate: $60,000-80,000), by the famed French sculptor Pierre-Philippe Thomire (1751-1843) stands 50 inches tall, each chased to a jewel-like finish. Viewing from a distance highlights the overall proportions and design, while close-up analysis reveals the superbly worked surfaces.

An Erard Gilt Bronze Mounted Mahogany Veneered Grand Piano, 19th century (estimate: $30,000-50,000) by the important late 19th century ebenist, Francois Linke, is presented in a fine mahogany Louis XV-Style case with delicate flowing gilt bronze mounts.

A Pair of Monumental French Empire-Style Porphyry Urns with Gilt Bronze Mounts (estimate: $20,000-30,000) is created from a rare material that is enhanced by classically inspired gilt bronze mounts that show off the rich speckled ground of the stone.

The auction boasts several fine collections. A series of ceramics from a Houston Collection are crowned by whimsical Meissen groups including Four Seasons, the Malabar and Malabarin as well as the model titled Ring Around the Rosie.

A selection of walking canes features a zoomorphic stick with a bulldog head (estimate: $1,500-2,500), as well a fascinating group of lots that includes a Group of Five English and Continental Gambler System Walking Sticks, a Group of Four English Explorer Brass Mounted Walking Sticks and a Group of Two English Otis King Metal Mounted Pocket Calculator System Walking Sticks walking sticks, each of which carries a pre-auction estimate of $1,000-1,500. The selection of canes and walking sticks is fascinating and can be great additions to existing collections or serve as a springboard into starting a collection in this infectiously alluring genre.

From New York, comes a collection of finely crafted object d’art in the manner of Fabergé. These intricately chased gold, enameled and jeweled works were made in the last quarter of the 20th century, and rival the work coming from pre-Revolution Fabergé during the reign of Nicholas II. These are pocket size marvels warrant close scrutiny.
