HAMBURG, GERMANY.- Fabrik Fotoforum Hamburg presents in cooperation with Altonaer Museum, Hamburg and Gallery Thomas Poller, Frankfurt, from series "invisible worlds" the exhibition "Imago - Embryo". With her series "Imago" and "Embryo" the German photographer Claudia Fährenkemper offers a fascinating insight into the world of plants and insects invisible for the naked eye. The images are created with the help of a Scanning Electron Microscope since 1996.
The pictures receive a particular luminousity due to the beam's character and the darkness of the picture background. Through the artistic remodelling of reality the artist concentrates on the detailed structures, the materiality and sculptural qualities of the objects. Thus gives them an almost sensuously receivable character, detaching them from the actual object. Fährenkemper designs autonomous images with a highly aesthetic force of expression.
Claudia Fährenkemper, born 1959, studied Art and Photography in Cologne and Düsseldorf. She realizes her photomicrographs with support of Zoological Research Institute and Museum Alexander Koenig, Bonn.
