SAN FRANCISCO, CA.- Turner Auctions + Appraisals will present a Summer Sale on August 28, 2021, featuring Russian porcelain, Nailsea glass, jewelry, decorative arts, fine art, books, and much more. Besides numerous items from estates and consignors, the auction offers 360+ lots, including collections of Russian Lomonosov porcelain figures; Victorian Nailsea bells, 19th-century blown glass canes and other whimseys; German ceramic and pewter beer steins; and fine jewelry.

Among the artworks are paintings by Jean Venitien, Friedrich Hosch, Larry Horowitz, and David Halbach, and several sculptures. Works on paper – lithographs, engravings, and woodcuts – feature Pablo Picasso, Hoi Lebadang, LeRoy Neiman, Kathe Kollwitz, Jacques Lalande, Marcel Mouly, Carol Jablonsky, and Irving Amen. Among the decorative arts are majolica, Spanish Colonial carved figures, Lalique pieces, glass paperweights, Moorcroft pottery, continental porcelain nodders, and art books on Chagall, Erté and Bernard Buffet with original prints. Sterling silver flatware is also on offer. From Asia are Japanese prints and decorative items; a Korean celadon wine jar; Chinese cloisonne, snuff bottles, hardstone figures and watercolors; and Balinese theater masks. An extensive selection of jewelry includes necklaces, bracelets, earrings, pendants, and several Tiffany rings; most items feature gold and precious or semi-precious stones such as diamonds, emeralds, rubies, jade, lapis lazuli, blue topaz, amethyst, garnet, pearls, or citrine. Several groups of costume jewelry complete the sale.

Turner Auctions + Appraisals begins its online auction on Saturday, August 28, 2021, at 10:30 am PST; sale items are available for preview and bidding now. The auction will be featured live on multiple platforms: LiveAuctioneers, Invaluable, Bidsquare, iCollector, and Turner Auctions + Appraisals’ free mobile app, which can be downloaded from the App Store or Google Apps ("Turner Auctions"). All are easily accessed through ‘Upcoming Auctions’ at the company’s website.

Here are some highlights of the upcoming sale:

Lot 7: Marc Chagall (1887-1985). Chagall, 1957 (Mourlot 192-207; Cramer bk 34). The complete suite, text by Jacques Lassaigne, printed by Maeght, Paris, comprising 15 original lithographs (including cover and frontispiece), 13 printed in colors and 2 in black, hors texte, with title, text, and reproductions, on wove paper, the full sheets, bound as issued, from the edition of 6000, in very good condition aside from some pages with time staining, with paper boards and lithographed cover and mylar sleeve (minor wear). 9 1/4 x 8 x 3/4in. Estimate $800 - $1,200.

Lot 282: Pair Chinese Cloisonné Vases. Decorated with fruited and floral vines on yellow ground. 10 1/2in. H. Three character mark on base. Condition: One with ding to lower side. Estimate $600 - $800.

Lot 325: 14k Gold Hollow Link Necklace. Designed with tapering, textured round links; weighing approximately 17.1 grams; length: 17 1/2in. Estimate $400 - $500.




Lot 87: Palissy-Style Majolica Plate. Centering a crab amid a variety of sea life. 13in. Diameter. Condition: Very good, no chips or cracks. Estimate $200 - $300.

Lot 45: Hoi Lebadang (1921-2015). Horses Color etching and aquatint with embossing, signed in pencil, numbered 170/275, published by Circle Gallery, Ltd., with full margins. 8 ¾ x 8 in. (image with embossing) 15 x 11 in. (sheet) In good condition aside from minor surface dirt. Estimate $800 - $1,200.

Lot 164: Russian Lomonosov Porcelain Shepherd. Together with a Porcelain Shop Display Sign. Length of shepherd 14in. Height 7in. Stamp on base 'Made in USSR'. Condition: Very good, no chips or cracks. Estimate $200 - $300.

Lot 293: Chinese Carved Mutton Fat Jade Pendant. Measuring 2 3/4 x 2 1/4in. (very slight discoloration from age). Estimate $200 - $300.

Lot 248: Victorian Nailsea Glass Bell. Teal color bell with ribbon twist inset handle. 12in. Condition: Very good, no chips or cracks, lacking ringer. Estimate $150 - $200.

Lot 308: EFFY Multi-Color Sapphire, Diamond & 14k White Gold. The wide ring featuring 16 oval and round-cut multi-color sapphires weighing in total approximately 7.5cts, accented by 50 single-cut diamonds weighing an estimated 0.15ct.; weighing 7.3 grams; size: 8 (light to normal wear). Estimate $300 - $500.

Lot 208: German Regimental Beer Steins. A lot of two. Greatest height 12in. Condition: Very good. Estimate $100 - $150.

Lot 269: Collection of English and Irish Sterling Flatware. A collection of Shell Pattern Sterling with several makers marks, including George Gilliam, London; Phillip Weekes, Dublin, And Green & Cadbury. Dates 1901, 1904. Many with engraved Stag. Lot includes; thirteen serving pieces; twelve teaspoons; ten vegetable spoons; twelve soup spoons; eleven dinner forks; sixteen dessert forks; eight dinner knives; eight butter knives. Eighty eight pieces. Approx. total weight 6078 grams. Estimate $5,000 - $7,000.

Lot 26: Pablo Picasso (1881-1973). Square Head (plate 37), from Carmen, 1949 Engraving with burin on Montaval wove paper, with the artist’s signature on the justification folio, No. 276 from the edition of 289, printed by Atelier Roger Lacourière, Paris. 13 ¼ x 10 in. (sheet) Ref.: Cramer, ˜Picasso, The Illustrated Books, No. 52; Georges Bloch, Pablo Picasso, Vol. 1, No. 567. Matte and light staining, surface dirt, masking tape along the top verso sheet edge, a red ink spot at left sheet edge. Estimate $1,000 - $2,000.
