Why Is Unconscious Bias Training Important?

Unconscious bias awareness training is a vital part of our conscious evolution as human beings.

Theoretically, we can, through our own evolution, impact the evolution of society too. According to certain sources, conscious evolution is preoccupied with increasing awareness of cultural and social patterns. It also presides over reactions against perceived problems with existing patterns, injustices, inequities and other negative factors that limit our potential and worth.

When we embark on diversity training for unconscious bias, we look at the core of our personal evolution over time, including the possibilities to achieve self-determination more meaningfully.

We come to grips with our underlying attitudes and stereotypes that we unconsciously attribute to other people or groups that affect how we engage with the people around us. Today, we need to be more in touch with the functioning of our inner world before we can begin to understand others more empathetically.

In many senses, when we undergo unconscious bias awareness training, we begin to participate in a more collective consciousness. The similarities between us are brought to the forefront of our minds; it becomes useful to see how connected we all are, giving us the opportunity to actively decide that mutual advancement is possible through positive co-operation and co-creation, without some of the more destructive aspects of competition.

Building up is chosen over destruction. In fact, conscious evolution becomes about realising the best in all of us.

Take charge of your mindset

A diversity and inclusion strategy must begin with understanding the realities of unconscious bias to formulate strategies and interventions that can offset key risks and vulnerabilities.

Through comprehensive strategies, we can reduce the likelihood of impulsive or automatic reactions and learned behaviours.

Conscious evolutions, in turn, involve a more active scanning of every aspect of our relationships, perceptions and interactions. Understanding the underlying drivers of our psychological make-up can help us do better because we know better too.

Unconscious bias awareness training, therefore, helps us identify our preferred evolutionary path and provides us with more opportunities to take charge of how we progress.

Proponents of conscious evolution identify our capability to combine automatic, intuitive responses with better reasoning and control.

Generate insights on who you are and your potential

The ability to unlock a concept of co-intelligence where we seek to optimise our own potential to change and grow is part of what makes unconscious bias training important.

It’s also a way to see what opportunities we may be missing to see the world differently—and the diverse ways of interpreting our experience of the world and others.

Unconscious bias training will also reignite genuine insights and untapped possibilities, particularly when it comes to enhancing our intentionality, wisdom and the ability to make choices that are aligned with our values.

Unconscious bias can change your view of yourself, the people around you and the world

When we set a diversity and inclusion strategy, the goal is to go beyond the obvious, moving from one level of achievement to the next.

Conscious evolution is not only about survival, it is about becoming whole, happy and fulfilled because we finally understand that we are on a journey towards our better selves.

Ultimately, unconscious bias training fuels conscious evolution as it is part of our basic enlightenment that opens the doors to greater opportunities for growth in all areas of our life.
