Passion for Paint at the Laing Art Gallery |

Gainsborough's The Morning Walk © The National Gallery.

LONDON, ENGLAND.- The Laing Art Gallery presents the exhibit Passion for Paint until July 9, 2006. Rubens, Van Dyke, Sargent, Monet, Degas and Turner are just some of the amazing artists whose work is on display in Passion for Paint. The National Gallery touring exhibition encourages visitors to find out more about how artists have used paint to portray the material world.
It looks at the way paint can convey sensation and emotion, and shows how for some artists the medium itself has become the subject. The exhibition includes well-known works such as Gainsborough's The Morning Walk and Rubens' Peace and War, alongside two new commissions. Impressive new works by Suling Wang and Raquib Shaw will be displayed for the first time.
The 25 works are from different cultures, centuries and collections embracing a wide variety of different styles. It is supported by the Heritage Lottery Fund, the Northern Rock Foundation, The Esmée Fairbairn Foundation and in Newcastle by Ward Hadaway.
