TAIPEI.-The second edition of Art Taipei wound up on Tuesday May 9th, setting a record number of forty thousand visitors. In the inauguration evening on May 4th, there were about two thousand guests came for the preview. Between May 4th and the closing day, 50 national and international journalists had registered.

The exhibitors report being very satisfied with the results achieved in every area, but in particular as far as works in the middle price range ¡V between 20 and 50 thousand US. Dollars ¡V are concerned. Galleries from overseas were pleased by the turnover; Art Seasons gallery from Singapore had sold two artworks right before the opening night, artworks in Hanmo gallery from Beijing had been swept off, Korean and French had great outcome too. Plus, a large number of deals were initiated during the exhibition, thanks to the participation of numerous Taiwan and international collectors. Art Taipei Executive Committee is proud to report the great success of Art Taipei 2006 resulting $4.7 million US. Dollars in sales, which is double from last year.

Visitors from Taiwan and foreign countries were impressed by the various choices and great quality of artworks in Art Taipei 2006 and also fascinated by the venue itself, Hua Shan Culture Park, despite the heat inside the building.

The first edition of Asia Art Economy Forum in Taipei, right before Art Taipei in May 2nd and 3rd, also had received positive feedback from participants, more than 150 people who are gallery directors, scholars, collectors, and press from all over the world. It was a great venue for sharing, and exchanging experience of the art market in Asia.
