APELDOORN.- Paleis Het Loo is opening the Junior Palace. This will give children aged 3 to 12 and their supervisors their very own palace. In this imaginative court, physical play and digital technology go hand in hand. The Junior Palace focuses on hospitality and is the starting point for the family and educational programming of Paleis Het Loo.

The Junior Palace was the last step in the renovation and renewal of Paleis Het Loo and was born out of changing visitor needs. With the Junior Palace, Paleis Het Loo has not only added a permanent component for families, but also for educational programmes for primary schools, especially in the theme of citizenship. It also offers opportunities for outings for nurseries.

Welcome and important

The entrance to the Junior Palace is in the west wing, just above the extension. There you walk through the colourful palace rooms of this wonderful court. Families meet The Majesties and their staff - lackeys and stoneware masters - plus their friends from surrounding countries who come to visit, the guests of honour. These include a queen with a beeskin coat, a king who loves boys' and girls' clothes and a female knight.

Children can have fun there individually, but can also complete an assignment together on a variant of the smartphone, the 'Kingsta'. With this, they will receive assignments from The Majesties. Can they organise an unforgettable party for their guests from all over the world? All kinds of assignments follow. Always based on the question: how do we make the guests of honour feel welcome and important?

Mission and Vision

Being hospitable and connecting and strengthening your global network; that too is part of palace life. That fits in with the mission and vision of Palace Het Loo to highlight the royal past from as many sides as possible. This is done with heritage, collection, gardens and history, and now also with the opportunity for young visitors to experience palace life in their own way.

From 6 July, visitors can reserve a time slot for the Junior Palace after arriving at the palace-at the entrance desk. There is no extra charge for this.

The Junior Palace has been made possible with the support of VSBfonds, the Zabawas foundation and the Frank van der Wal Fonds.
