COLUMBUS, OH.- Beginning October 7, 2024, Julieta Gonz醠ez (first name pronounced “Hoo-lee-EH-tah”) will be the Head of Exhibitions for the Wexner Center for the Arts, the multidisciplinary contemporary arts center at The Ohio State University.

“I am thrilled to join the Wexner Center,” Gonz醠ez notes, “because of its extraordinary history supporting emerging and established artists and presenting boundary-defying exhibitions and multidisciplinary programming. This role and its strong connections to The Ohio State University and surrounding communities present an abundance of opportunities. I’m eager to add to the conversation, curiosity, and cultural exchange that is core to the Wexner Center and Ohio State.”

A curator and museum professional, Gonz醠ez brings three decades of experience to her new role at the Wex. She has organized or co-organized over 80 exhibitions, has edited or coedited several books, and has published numerous essays in catalogues and periodicals including Flash Art and Parkett. Recently, Gonz醠ez was invited by Adriano Pedrosa to cocurate the 2026 exhibition Hist髍ias latino-americanas at Museu de Arte de S鉶 Paolo, Brazil, where Gonz醠ez has been serving as curator-at-large for modern and contemporary art.

Previously, Gonz醠ez served as the artistic director at the Instituto Inhotim, Brazil; as artistic director and chief curator at Museo Jumex, Mexico City; and as senior curator at Museo Tamayo, Mexico City. She has also held curatorial roles at the Bronx Museum of the Arts, New York; at Tate Modern, London; and at the Museo de Bellas Artes de Caracas, Venezuela.

In her new role at the Wexner Center, Gonz醠ez will work closely with Verna, the curatorial and exhibitions team, as well as peers in Performing Arts, Film/Video, Learning & Public Practice, Advancement, and Communications & Marketing. Gonz醠ez will conceptualize and enact a robust exhibition calendar; engage with audiences; manage visual arts residencies; and nurture collaborations across the university, in surrounding communities, and within the international art world.

Gonz醠ez holds an MA in cultural studies from Goldsmiths, University of London; was a Helena Rubinstein Curatorial Fellow at the Whitney Museum of American Art; and previously studied architecture at Universidad Sim髇 Bol韛ar, Caracas, and at Ecole d’Architecture Paris-Villemin, Paris.
