MONTREAL.- After its resounding success at the Old Port of Montreal, PHI Studio announces its return to Arsenal contemporary art, launching a second venue dedicated to immersive expeditions.

This renewed collaboration with Arsenal contemporary art marks a new chapter for PHI Studio, which previously invested the space in 2021 to present the world premiere of Space Explorers: THE INFINITE and CARNE y ARENA, a groundbreaking work by acclaimed Mexican filmmaker Alejandro G. Iñárritu. At the time, these two experiences captivated nearly 85,000 visitors.

Building on the overwhelming success at the Old Port of Montreal—with 115 000 visitors for Space Explorers: THE INFINITE in 2023, over 250 000 visitors for Horizon of Khufu, and nearly 40 000 tickets already sold for Life Chronicles in just a few weeks—PHI Studio is expanding its reach with a second venue in Montreal. This initiative aims to meet the growing demand for immersive experiences and further establish Montreal as a global hub for new technologies and immersive storytelling.

“We want to offer Montreal audiences even more opportunities to explore immersive works. As our experiences continue to grow in popularity, this new site at Arsenal contemporary art represents our commitment to expansion and innovation while reinforcing Montreal’s reputation as a premier destination for digital and immersive creativity.” — Julie Tremblay, Executive Producer and Managing Director, PHI Studio

With this move, PHI Studio continues to push the boundaries of immersion, offering large-scale works developed and created in collaboration with renowned artists and studios, transporting audiences to outer space, ancient Egypt, and the age of the dinosaurs.

“Arsenal contemporary art is proud to once again welcome PHI Studio and strengthen our commitment to immersive experiences. By providing a space for these large-scale creations, we contribute to positioning Montreal as a true hub for artistic innovation.”
— Eric Poirier, Co-Director, Arsenal contemporary art

Further announcements about upcoming programming will follow. The first experience will open in June 2025.
