NEW YORK.- The New York Philharmonic will present, Maestro’s Secret Music: The Artwork collected by Arturo Toscanini. Commemorating the 50th anniversary of the legendary Philharmonic conductor’s death, the exhibition will showcase 60 works of art from Toscanini’s personal collection, including late-19th century avant garde paintings, drawings, and sculptures from artists such as Vittore Grubicy de Dragon, Gaetano Previati, Giovanni Fattori, Giovanni Segantini and Umberto Boccioni, as well as American artists George Inness and Alfred East. Exhibition will include video excerpts of Toscanini’s performances, rare home movies from the 1930s, and footage of the Philharmonic’s historical 1930 European tour, which he conducted.

Maestro’s Secret Music: The Artwork Collected by Arturo Toscanini will be on view on the Grand Promenade and First Tier of Avery Fisher Hall from January 16 to March 31, as part of a worldwide celebration of the 50th anniversary of the Maestro’s death. The exhibition is open to the public every Thursday afternoon from 2:00-6:00 p.m. and to all ticket holders for Philharmonic concerts.
