JERSEY CITY, NJ.-Plans were announced yesterday that Liberty State Park in Jersey City will be the site of the PSEG Global Green Expo, a three-day event designed to educate New Jersey residents and businesses about what they can do to make a difference in the battle against climate change. The event, which will take place the weekend after Earth Day, is hoping to attract thousands of families and businesses to learn about eco- friendly products, programs and services that are available for consumers.

In recognition of PSEG's partnership with Jersey City and the city's role in hosting the Global Green Expo, PSEG also announced a grant of $50,000, which was presented to the Jersey City Museum to support energy-efficiency projects and other environmental enhancements of the Museum's building. "Customers look to us for energy recommendations and assistance, and we are glad to help an institution such as the Museum," said Ralph Izzo, chairman, president and CEO of Public Service Enterprise Group (PSEG), which is the Expo's leading sponser.

Jersey City Museum Director, Marion Grzesiak, says “We are so honored to be selected by PSEG for this terrific opportunity. In order to protect their art and historical objects, museums have very specialized needs when it comes to heating and cooling. We have objects in our collection that are over 300 years old, so, it’s been difficult for us to be ‘green.’ This support will help to ensure that we maintain this wonderful collection for generations to come while we reduce our impact on the environment.”

Founded in 1901, the Jersey City Museum is the major presenter of contemporary art serving the people of Jersey City, Hudson County and the region. The museum organizes many group and solo exhibitions every year, featuring works by culturally diverse, contemporary artists and from its 10,000-piece collection of regional significant art and historical objects. Through exhibitions, educational initiatives and programs, the museum welcomes over 25,000 visitors each year, including 11,000 school-aged children and youth.
