NEW ORLEANS, LA.- The Contemporary Arts Center, New Orleans announced the appointment of Dr. Andrea Andersson as its new Chief Curator of Visual Arts. A native New Orleanian, Andersson returns to New Orleans from New York, where she has been based since 2001.

An independent curator with a focus on interdisciplinary and contemporary art, Andersson has organized and toured exhibitions across North America to museums that include-among others- the Museum of Contemporary Art Denver (MCA Denver), the Eli and Edythe Broad Art Museum, The Power Plant (Toronto, Ontario) and Yale Union (Portland, Oregon). A graduate of Stanford and Columbia Universities, she has taught at NYU and Barnard College. As a leading scholar in the field of interdisciplinary artistic practice, her writing has appeared in scholarly journals and catalogues. Andersson's book, Postscript: Writing After Conceptual Art, is forthcoming from the University of Toronto Press (co-imprinted by the MCA Denver). She will return to New Orleans as the new Chief Curator of Visual Arts for the CAC in January, 2015.

The Contemporary Arts Center (CAC) is a multi-disciplinary arts center dedicated to the presentation, production, and promotion of the art of our time.
