PARIS.- “The contemporary art UFO”, "unclassifiable", "multifaceted" here are some of the numerous adjectives depicting Alexandre Farto aka VHILS the young Portuguese star of contemporary art. Following his first solo museum exhibition at the EDP Foundation in Lisbon, he exhibits in Paris from October 11th to November 15th, 2014 a brand new set of artworks at Magda Danysz gallery. This Street-Art prodigy, has created for this show art pieces on materials as various as wood, styrofoam, metal and billboards.

The show is accompanied by his new book "Entropy" published by Alternatives and focusing on his most important recent projects around the world, 2014 having been key to his recognition. Last but not least, VHILS’ Paris show reaches outside, with the production of three 20 meters high monumental walls as part of the official program of the NUIT BLANCHE.

From walls to metal plate, from cork to wood, paper, video compositions or billboards VHILS proves in this exhibition his technical skills and his unlimited daring material choices. He is not limited to a single medium and he shows his capacity to invent and recreate endlessly. In these works, with a unique style, the artist mixes the human with the city in a very poetic way. Being close to abstraction, VHILS combines new patterns to his intense portraits. Thus wrinkles turn into tree branches to focus on their expression. In his works on billboards or in his metal compositions, the geometric patterns enhance the intense faces. One then finds the powerful legacy of azulejos from his hometown of Lisbon.

Art critic and journalist Nicolas Jucha wrotes about VHILS that we need “to dig into our own memory to understand his development. In this exhibition, VHILS allows us to see this progression through the diversity of the works shown. Above all, VHILS questions the memory of cities and the history of its inhabitants. He dissects the elements to enhance and reveal the anonymity of people who live in the city." By his breathtaking technics he makes us to wonder about our relationship with the city.
