LONDON.- Phillips announced that Marianne Hoet joined the company as a Senior Specialist of 20th Century & Contemporary Art and Deputy Chairman, Europe.

Ms. Hoet joins the company from Christie’s, where she was an International Director and Head of Post-War & Contemporary Art in Northern Europe. Widely considered one of Europe’s leading specialists in 20th century and contemporary art, she will play a significant role in building Phillips’s brand in Northern Europe, working with key art and business development specialists across all department categories to support the auction house’s efforts to cultivate collectors, dealers and art enthusiasts. She will partner with Phillips’ senior executives in Asia, Europe and the United States to develop the company’s global client relationship program, which is focused on delivering best-in-class services and engagement opportunities to today’s collectors.

Ms. Hoet will be based in Phillips’s new office in Antwerp, Belgium, located at Graaf van Egmontstraat 37 2000.

“We are extremely pleased that Marianne is joining our team,” said Cheyenne Westphal, Chairman of Phillips. “A long-time specialist in modern and contemporary art, she is among the most talented experts in Europe and will be a transformative addition to our team. With her significant experience and passion for engaging with collectors and colleagues – and her intimate knowledge of the European art scene – Marianne will help us increase our presence across the continent.”

Phillips is in the midst of significant international growth. In addition to holding its first two sales of 20th Century & Contemporary Art and Design in Hong Kong, the company added regional directors or specialists in Mexico City, Rio de Janeiro, Los Angeles, Seattle, Chicago, Cologne, Zurich, Tokyo, Seoul and Taipei.

Prior to joining Christie’s, Ms. Hoet had an extensive career in private banking, having worked at Société Générale Private Banking and Générale Bank-MeesPierson Fortis. Ms. Hoet is currently on the board of Museum Dhondt-Dhaenens MDD Ghent and was a member of the jury that selected artist Dirk Braeckman to represent the Belgian pavilion at 2017’s Venice Biennale. She also auctioneers many charity sales in Belgium.
