FIAC and the Centre Pompidou announce the installation of Domestikator
The work of Atelier Van Lieshout Domestikator will be on show from Tuesday 17 October onwards. It is presented by Carpenters Workshop Gallery.

PARIS.- Domestikator is shown within the context of FIAC's Hors les Murs artistic programme, which counts over 70 pieces exhibited in public spaces and is specifically conceived for the 44th edition of the fair.

« We are delighted to have found a prominent and emblematic venue for Atelier Van Lieshout’s Domestikator, which will be installed on the square in front of the Centre Pompidou; a site which falls under the aegis of the museum whose aim is to preserve, display and support contemporary creation. This has been made possible thanks to the energetic support of our partner institutions. The Domestikator joins the FIAC artistic programme, conceived for the 44th edition of the fair and counting over 70 pieces exhibited in public spaces. Its installation on the square begins a new chapter of the Hors les Murs programme and reinforces an already fruitful collaboration with the Centre Pompidou » Jennifer Flay, Director of FIAC.

« The work of Atelier Van Lieshout is a beautiful utopia fully connected to the public space. The perfect place to exhibit it is the piazza of Centre Pompidou. I immediately asked the President of the Centre, Serge Lasvigne, if he’d agree to present the work and he straight away said yes » remarks Bernard Blistène, Director of the Centre Pompidou, Paris.

Joep van Lieshout, Sculptor and Founder of Atelier Van Lieshout explains, « Domestikator was always intended to be a catalyst for thought, as it addresses the very serious issue of how humans employ technology – with ingenuity, creativity, sophistication and persistence – to change the world into a “better” place, often domesticating it in the process. » Van Lieshout continues « I am pleased that visitors to the Pompidou will have the opportunity to experience this work and hope that it generates questions and dialogue around the complexity of the issue of domestication – particularly its inherent hypocrisy, and the disconcerting fact that we are still without any real policy or regulation to govern this increasingly intrepid behaviour. »

The work of Atelier Van Lieshout Domestikator will be on show from Tuesday 17 October onwards. It is presented by Carpenters Workshop Gallery.

FIAC reaffirms its strong commitment to culture, readily accessible to all, through this artistic programme. The ensemble of works exhibited in public spaces, of unrivalled calibre within the international art fair scene, will be presented in emblematic Parisian locations: the Tuileries Gardens, the Place Vendôme, the Musée National Eugène Delacroix, and now in the piazza of Centre Pompidou.
