LONG ISLAND CITY, NY.- An exquisite selection of decorative arts items from the estate of legendary entertainment producer and talent manager turned home designer Sandy Gallin will take center stage at Capo Auction Fine Art and Antiques upcoming Saturday, October 21st auction.

Gallin, who passed away in April of this year, shaped the careers of Barbra Streisand, Mariah Carey Dolly Parton, Cher, Neil Diamond, Whoopi Goldberg and others, while enjoying close friendships with Elizabeth Taylor and moguls David Geffen, Barry Diller and Calvin Klein. In later years, he forged a successful second career buying, interior designing and selling dozens of multimillion-dollar estates, working on homes for show business heavyweights like Jeffrey Katzenberg. His highly-acclaimed personal collection was spread out between homes in Los Angeles and the Hamptons, with many pieces now being put on the auction block by his estate.

This and much more will be available at on Saturday, October 21st at 11am with three days of previews on Wednesday, October 18th (11am-6pm), Thursday, October 19th (11am-7pm) and Friday, October 20th (11am-6pm).

Items from Gallin’s personal collection will include art, sculpture, decorative pieces and home furnishings. Two of the top items are a Henry Moore (British, 1898–1986) - Two piece reclining figure: Thin. Bronze, 1976. Signed 'Moore' and stamped 9/9. Size 9.25 x 4.2 x 3.6 inches. On wooden base with informational label. Provenance: Estate of Sandy Gallin. (Estimated value $ 60,000 - 80,000) and a Sophia Vari (American/Greek, b. 1940) - Untitled. Bronze, 20th century. Signed 'Vari' and stamped 1/6. Stamped with Foundaria Italy. Height 7.5 inches, with base 10 inches. Provenance: Estate of Sandy Gallin. (Estimated value $ 4,000 - 6,000). Also from the Gallin estate are a Rene Lalique glass vase - Leaf and berry design, signed on the bottom. Height 18 inches. (Estimated value $ 2,000 - 3,000), a Rene Lalique glass vase - Opaline glass, signed on the bottom. Height 8 inches (Estimated value $ 1,000 - 1,500), a ‘Photographs by Man Ray 1920 Paris 1934’ book, Monochromes by Neogravues Company, printed 1934. Published by James Thrall Soby, Hartford, CT. Spiral bound with plastic protector. Size 12.5 x 10 x 1 inches. Some consider this to be one of the most important photography books of the 20th century. (Estimated value $ 800 - 1,200) and a modern chaise lounge - white upholstery, tapered legs. Height 31 inches, width 38 inches, depth 66 inches. (Estimated value $ 500- 700).

Also in the entertainment arena at this month’s auction, Capo is offering a Gilson Lavis (British – born 1951) Bruce Springsteen circa 2006, acrylic on canvas board, signed by artist. Framed. Size 24 ½” x 28 ½”. (Estimated value $3500 - $4000). Highly acclaimed British drummer and artist Gilson Lavis is the original drummer for British band Squeeze and is currently drummer for the hugely popular Jools Holland Rhythm and Blues Orchestra.

Additionally, they’ll feature a Gilson Lavis (British – born 1951) Mick Jagger circa 2000, acrylic on canvas board, signed by artist. Framed. Size 22 ½” x 28 ¼”. (Estimated value $3500 - $4000) and a Gilson Lavis (British – born 1951) Jimi Hendrix circa 1967, ink drawing on paper, signed by artist. Framed. Size 11 ¾” x 14 ¼”. (Estimated value $800-$1,000).

Other contemporary art will include a pair of M. C. Escher (Dutch, 1898-1972) Prints - (1) Regular Division of the Plane IV (Red). Woodcut, 1957. Initialed 'MCE' and dated '57' in the plate lower left and numbered 134/175 lower center. Sheet size 13 x 9.5 inches. Matted. Reference: Bool, 41. (2) Regular Division of the Plane III (Red), 1957. Woodcut, 1957. Initialed 'MCE' and dated '57' in the plate lower left and with 'No.155' lower center. Sheet size 13 x 9.5 inches. Matted. Reference: Bool, 48. (Estimated value $ 2,000 - 3,000), an Alfredo Zorrilla (Uruguay, 1927 - 1990) - San Martin. Oil on canvas, 1986. Signed 'AZ 1986' lower right and again with date and title on the verso. Canvas size 32 x 39.5 inches. Framed. (Estimated value $ 2,000- 3,000) and an Armando Angelo Gentilini (Italian, 1909-1981) - La Fete des Fleurs. Oil on canvas, 20th century. Signed and titled on the verso. Canvas size 24 x 20 inches. Framed. (Estimated value $1,500 - 2,500).

In collectibles, they’ll feature a rare 1938 New York Yankees team signed baseball - 1938 NY Yankees World Series Champion Team signed ball, featuring twenty four signatures, including S. Sundra, R. Rolfe, B. Hadley, B. Knickerbocker, J. Powell, J. Broaca, A. Fletcher and hall of famer J. Gordon, etc. as well as the clubhouse signatures of J. DiMaggio, L. Gomez, L. Gehrig, and B. Dickey, includes a letter of authenticity from James Spence Authentication (JSA). Stand not included. (Estimated value $ 2,500 - 3,500).

Other decorative lots are a unique Daum, Nancy, glass table lamp - Circa 1920, yellow acid etched lamp with matching glass domed shade. Height overall, 24 inches. (Estimated value $2500 - 3,500), a Russian silver and Cloisonne enamel box - Marked 84 and with double headed eagle, also marked AC and dated 1894, maker's mark MC, camel back top with enamel floral decorated plaque within an enamel floral border, loop side handles. Height 1 7/8 inches, width 2 1/2 inches, depth 1 7/8 inches. (Estimated value $ 800 - 1,200), a Barbro Åberg Ring Dance pottery sculpture - Organic vessel. Height 8 1/4 inches. (Estimated value $ 800 - 1,200) and a Jean-Antoine Houdon (French, 1741 - 1828) - Nude figure in shawl. Terracotta, 18th/19th century. Signed 'Houdon'. Height 11 inches. Lot Note: Being sold to benefit the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of America. (Estimated value $800 - 1,200).

And, furniture highlights include Tiger Maple chest / cabinet - Rectangular top with molded edge over a drawer, a panelled door opening to two shelves and a lower drawer, block feet. Height 53 1/2 inches, width 25 inches, depth 16 1/2 inches. (Estimated value $ 800 - 1,200), a Mahogany bureau plat - Leather inset rectangular top with brass edge, over three drawers, tapered square legs. Height 29 1/4 inches, width 79 inches, depth 43 1/4 inches. (Estimated value $800 - 1,200) and a Heywood Wakefield chest of drawers - Five drawer chest with shaving mirror. Height 46 inches, width 34 inches, depth 19 inches (Estimated value $ 300 – 500).
