LONG ISLAND CITY, NY.- An exquisite selection of decorative arts items from the estate of legendary entertainment producer and talent manager turned home designer Sandy Gallin will take center stage at
Capo Auction Fine Art and Antiques upcoming Saturday, October 21st auction.
Gallin, who passed away in April of this year, shaped the careers of Barbra Streisand, Mariah Carey Dolly Parton, Cher, Neil Diamond, Whoopi Goldberg and others, while enjoying close friendships with Elizabeth Taylor and moguls David Geffen, Barry Diller and Calvin Klein. In later years, he forged a successful second career buying, interior designing and selling dozens of multimillion-dollar estates, working on homes for show business heavyweights like Jeffrey Katzenberg. His highly-acclaimed personal collection was spread out between homes in Los Angeles and the Hamptons, with many pieces now being put on the auction block by his estate.
This and much more will be available at on Saturday, October 21st at 11am with three days of previews on Wednesday, October 18th (11am-6pm), Thursday, October 19th (11am-7pm) and Friday, October 20th (11am-6pm).
Items from Gallins personal collection will include art, sculpture, decorative pieces and home furnishings. Spiral bound with plastic protector. Size 12.5 x 10 x 1 inches. Some consider this to be one of the most important photography books of the 20th century. Also in the entertainment arena at this months auction, Capo is offering a Gilson Lavis (British born 1951) Bruce Springsteen circa 2006, acrylic on canvas board, signed by artist. Framed. Size 24 ½ x 28 ½. (Estimated value $3500 - $4000). Highly acclaimed British drummer and artist Gilson Lavis is the original drummer for British band Squeeze and is currently drummer for the hugely popular Jools Holland Rhythm and Blues Orchestra.
