Heritage Auctions’ slate of spring Fine Art auctions a priority destination for art collectors of all kinds.

The spring auctions include, but are not limited to:
April 4: Ansel Adams Clearing Winter Storm, Yosemite Valley, California, 1944 (estimate: $30,000-50,000) could claim top-lot honors in Heritage Auctions’ Photographs Auction in New York City. But also turning heads as the auction approaches is a collection of 29 photographs by 20th-century American photographer WeeGee, the pseudonym for Arthur Fellig, whose popularity was built in part through his stark black-and-white images of street photography in New York City. Photographers featured in the 277-lot auction include, but are not limited to Adams, Alfred Stieglitz, Kourtney Roy, Robert Mapplethorpe and Ruth Bernhard.
April 20: A Garouste and Bonetti, Dawson floor lamp (estimate: $20,000-30,000) is among the top lots in Heritage’s Design Auction. The 127-lot sale includes works by an array of popular artists, including but not limited to art glass by Dale Chihuly, wood and/or upholstered furniture by Edward Wormley, bronze figures by Apeles Fenosa and bronze artwork by Cornelis Jacominus Zitman.
April 21: Roy Lichtenstein’s Reflections on Crash, from Reflection Series, 1990 (estimate: $100,000-150,000) which will be among the top lots in Heritage’s Prints & Multiples Auction in Dallas, follows the artist’s objective of partially obscuring images with reflective streaks, as if behind glass or reflected in a mirror. The 109-lot sale features artworks by numerous pop artists, including KAWS, Andy Warhol, Wayne Thiebaud and Pablo Picasso.
April 24: Patrick Nagel’s Untitled, 1982 (estimate: $60,000-80,000) headlines the Illustration Art Auction in Dallas, Texas. The 361-lot sale includes popular nude and pin-up images by the likes of Gil Elvgren, Alberto Vargas, Mabel Rollins Harris and Greg Hildebrandt, and science fiction/fantasy art by artists like Lee Brown Coye, Henry Richard Van Dongen and John Conrad Berkey.
May 1: A classic painting by the most beloved American illustrator of all time could bring $1.8 million or more in Heritage Auctions’ American Art Auction in Dallas, Texas. Norman Rockwell’s Mother Tucking Children into Bed (Mother's Little Angels) Literary Digest cover, January 29, 1921 (estimate: $1,800,000-2,400,000) is a deeply personal work, arguably the artist’s most iconic Literary Digest cover of his 47 covers published between 1918 and 1923. The painting was given by Rockwell to Literary Digest editor Rudolph E. Leppert in 1921, and has remained in Leppert’s family ever since. The auction features fresh-to-market works from the Ash Can School, Modernism, Hudson River School and Regionalism, in addition to traditional categories. The trove of important artwork includes Robert Henri’s Blond Bridget Lavelle, 1928 (estimate: $300,000-500,000), Joseph Christian Leyendecker’s Yule (Musical Jester), The Saturday Evening Post cover, December 26, 1931 (estimate: $150,000-250,000), Maxfield Parrish’s A Dark Futurist, Life magazine cover, March 1, 1923 (estimate: $150,000-250,000) and Tom Lovell’s The Noble Train of Artillery, 1946 (estimate: $100,000-150,000).
May 2: Heritage Auctions’ Texas Art Auction highlights exceptional artwork from the Lone Star State, including work by the likes of David Bates, Lee Smith and Billy Hassell. Among the top lots are a pair of exceptional artworks by Dallas-born David Bates, including Sealife and Crab Legs, 1984, each of which carries a pre-auction estimate of estimate: $30,000-50,000 and underscores the artist’s affection for life on the coast. Other top lots in the sale include, but are not limited to: Robert Wood Bluebonnets(estimate:$15,000-25,000), William A. Slaughter Bluebonnets along the Creek (estimate: $8,000-12,000) and Fred Darge Brahman Bull (estimate: $4,000-6,000)
May 5: A Rattray & Co. 9K Gold Center Bowl Presented to the Earl & Countess of Strathmore, Dundee, Scotland, circa 1931 (estimate: $60,000-80,000) is one of the featured lots in Heritage’s Silver & Vertu Auction in Dallas, Texas. The 9-karat rose gold bowl, on footed base with dragon-form handles, weighs 56 troy ounces and is inscribed with the coat of arms of the 14th Earl of Strathmore and the motto "IN TE DOMINE SPERAVI” ("I put my trust in you, Lord”). Other highlights in the sale include a Hermann Ratzersdorfer Gem-Set, Partial Gilt, and Enameled Silver-Mounted and Engraved Rock Crystal Figural Tazza, Vienna, circa 1880 (estimate: $30,000-50,000) and a One Hundred and Ninety-Piece Tiffany & Co. Chrysanthemum Pattern Silver Flatware Service for Twenty-Two, New York, designed 1880 (estimate: $10,000-15,000).
May 21: Keith Haring’s Untitled, 1983 is an important artwork that should vie for top-lot honors in Heritage Auctions’ Modern & Contemporary Art Auction (estimate: $500,000-700,000) in Beverly Hills. Measuring 30 by 35-1/2 inches, the acrylic on Plexiglass image is signed by the popular 20th-century pop artist and dated lower right "K. Haring 83.” Other desirable lots in the sale include Helen Frankenthaler’s Leprechaun, 1991 acrylic on canvas (estimate: $300,000-500,000), Pablo Picasso’s Pichet Trois Taureaux Graves, 1953 (estimate: $100,000-150,000) and Louis Nevelson’s Zoon Mag III, 1979 (estimate: $80,000-120,000), which comes from the collection of Elaine and Perry Snyderman.
May 28: Among the highlights that have come in early for Heritage’s Decorative Art Auction is a Very Rare Early Victorian Chinoiserie Ironstone Fireplace Surround, circa 1830-1850 (estimate: $15,000-20,000). The apple-green surround features a serpentine mantel with partial gilt floral garland encased in solid gilt banding, an upper hearth apron with two inset painted medallions flanking oversized scroll with painted avian, floral and court motifs, geometric legs inset with a variety of medallions and lozenges with conforming hand-painted floral decoration. Other highlights include a Pair of Rare Neoclassical Gilt Bronze Mounted mahogany Tulipwood and Fruitwood Parquetry Commodes, marked BVRB, circa 1770 (estimate: $30,000-50,000) and Audrey Flack’s Islandia, Goddess of the Healing Waters, 1988 (estimate: $15,000-20,000), a rare gilded bronze with patina that stands 66-1/2 inches high and is editioned No. 2 of 6.
May 29: A Rare Crow Beaded Cloth Cradleboard (c. 1880) could bring $60,000-80,000 or more in the Ethnographic Art American Indian, Pre-Columbian and Tribal Art Signature Auction, Featuring The I. S. K. "Keith” Reeves V and Sara W. Reeves Collection in Dallas. The couple has traveled extensively, often visiting other collectors and reservations, and Keith regularly scours the internet and bids in auctions to add to the collection, which has been carefully curated for more than 50 years. Other intriguing lots in the sale include a Sioux Quilled Hide Jacket Belonging to Chief Rain-In-The-Face (estimate: $20,000-30,000) and a Southern Cheyenne Ledger Drawing (estimate: $15,000-20,000).
May 29: From the Collection of Elaine and Perry Snyderman comes Henri Eugène Le Sidaner La Balustrade, Londres, 1908 (estimate: $150,000-250,000). The masterpiece by the intimist painter comes from the Collection of Elaine and Perry Snyderman. Also featured in the sale are William Adolphe Bouguereau’s Tête d'Italienne avec une couronne de laurier (Head of an Italian girl with a laurel wreath), 1872 (estimate: 60,000-80,000), Giovanni Ghisolfi’s A ruined classical temple of the Tuscan order with figures; Two classical temples in ruins with statue, bas-relief and figures (a pair), circa 1650-60 (estimate: $20,000-30,000), Jules Pascin’s Lucy à Fontenay-aux-Roses, 1928-29 (estimate: $20,000-30,000) and Pierre-Auguste Renoir’s Gabrielle, Jean et une petite fille, 1895 (estimate: $20,000-30,000).
