NEW YORK, NY.- P·P·O·W announced the opening of an additional gallery in Tribeca, on the second floor of 390 Broadway, adjacent to its primary gallery. Designed by StudioMDA, the firm responsible for P·P·O·W’s ground floor space, this expansion nearly doubles the gallery’s footprint in Tribeca. A floor-through 4,000+ square foot loft, the warm oak floors, cathedral style windows, recessed lighting, and other architectural details will complement elements at 392 Broadway. This space will open in September with a solo exhibition of new works by Astrid Terrazas, her first one-person presentation in New York.

“When an opportunity came up to expand our space into the adjacent building, it seemed like a perfect opportunity,” said P·P·O·W Co-Founder Wendy Olsoff. “The space immediately reminded us of our SoHo galleries in the 1990s and we felt entirely comfortable in a 2nd floor loft that will give us expanded exhibition possibilities.” Co-Founder Penny Pilkington adds, “With this new expansion, we are furthering our commitment to our artists and Tribeca.”

In addition to Astrid Terrazas’s exhibition, the gallery will present both solo and group exhibitions in its inaugural season of programming at 390 Broadway. Following the close of Terrazas’s show in October, P·P·O·W will present a group exhibition curated by Director Eden Deering. Examining the parallels historically made between Motherhood and Landscape, and their damaging consequences, the exhibition will pair early landscape paintings by the late Carolee Schneemann and historical work by Jasper Francis Cropsey with contemporary artists such as LaToya Ruby Frazier, Brooke Hsu, Hortensia Mi Kafchin, Noemí Pérez, Mira Schor, TARWUK, and Robin F. Williams. In December, the gallery will present a show of photographs by Jimmy DeSana, the first show in New York organized by the estate in over ten years. This exhibition will coincide with the artist’s first-ever museum survey exhibition, Jimmy DeSana: Submission, at the Brooklyn Museum November 11, 2022, through April 16, 2023.
