Digital Photo Restoration Tips and Techniques

Nowadays, digital photography helps a lot to make an expert photographer. Digital photography makes it easier to take photos of high quality. Now we are discussing Digital Photo restoration. With this, we can edit our old and fade color photos into the images of modern days.

For this, you have to learn about the proper use of tools and also about their techniques. Many images are colorless and have stain, so you can quickly restore the appearance and make it new with the right. So here are some tips, techniques, and also a process about photo restoration services.

1. Scanning Process:
The very first process is scanning and restoring photographs. You can review the original photo, or also you can check the negative image. With this, you need to figure out the potential of your website. For the first step or process means scanning, you have to use one of the best scanning equipment and software.

For the best result, you can use a Flatbed scanner because it produces high-quality images compared to others. This step is significant because the scanning process can capture the information that is very useful for editing photos; that is why this process is fundamental and needs your full attention.

2. Selection of Scanning Software:
Now we are discussing the next step. For this step, you have to choose the best scanning software and check that the software should match the scanning device's capabilities.

There are two software which can be very helpful for you: Vuescan and Silverfast. These two are the best and popular scanning software. Silverfast is more powerful and has more abilities than Vuescan if you have a negative photo while Vuescan makes cheap prints of photos. So always be careful about the scanning software.

3. Resolution:
So the next step is resolution. Here I suggest you use a resolution of at least 400 to 600 DPI for prints. You can also use this resolution for the film's negatives. Explanation examines the sharpness and focus of the original photo.

You can try this as an experiment. After that, you can see how appropriate your image looks on the screen. Another thing is that they always give priority to the highest bit depth.

In my opinion, 16 bits per channel or 48 bits per channel are the highest if it is available for you. With this, you can refresh your photos. But if you are scanning negatives, you have to use a much higher resolution, approximately 2000 to 3000 DPI. With this, you can browse larger photos, and it also gives more information to software. You can also find this by doing experiments.

4. Saving the Scanned File:
The next thing is to keep a scanned file, and it can increase the level of detail storage. If your software can support files of negatives, then it will be a perfect option.

If you want to save your photos in black and white, you can keep it in your disk's grayscale format. Color scanning will help you to remove stain from your image and make the process. Because colors make it easy for you to identify stains in your pictures, you can get a clear photo.

5. Archive the Final Scan:
Before starting editing, your scanned photo makes a duplicate copy of it and saves it into a safe place. Make sure that the file will be secure and can be backup easily. The reason behind this is that if you make any mistake during adjustment or edit and change your mind or want to try something new so you can start it with the duplicate copy, you saved before.

By this, you do not need to repeat the whole process of scanning, resolution, and saving. And you try new things without wasting your time.

6. Common Digital Restoration Techniques:
Old Photos have to suffer from many problems. If you got the ability to fix the most common damages, then you can restore many old photos into a beautiful and refreshing state.

Fading:
Fading can remove the contrast from the photos. The darkest side of your image becomes bright, and the bright side becomes dark until the picture starting to lose its sharpness and clearness. By the level tool in your software, you can fix this problem by increasing the photo's contrast to restore dark and bright areas of your photos. You can easily remove the faded areas by this process.

Damage:
If your photos have damage like stains, spots, and tears, you can fix this damage using cloning and healing brush tools. The clone tool copies your photo's complete information from one area to another, which means it makes duplicates. At the same time, healing brush copy texture from one place to another. It would help if you practiced these tools and practiced to make yourself an expert.

7. Selecting the Best Photo Restoration Software:
I enlist some software that you can use for photo restoration. Here is the software.

Adobe Photoshop:
Nowadays, it has become one of the best editing software. It provides you the best and wide range of useful features. You can do many things with this editor instead of restoring old photos like background removal, color correction, and many other professional photoshop services. Clone stamp tool from Adobe Photoshop you can copy the pixels from different areas and remove your photo's damage. Even if you are new to Adobe Photoshop, you learn it quickly.

GIMP:
It is the best and open source software for photo editing. Features of this software help you in photo restoration and will help you to repair damaged photos. Using color adjustment features strengthens the faded ones and not being sharp will help in making perfect photos.

Also, there are many features in this software from which you can correctly express your creativity. But if you are new photo editing, then you need to spend some time learning how to use GIMP software accurately and efficiently.

These are the best photo restoration software, which will help you restore your old photos and new photos.

Conclusion
These days digital photography helps you to become a professional photographer. With the help of digital photography restoration you can store your old photos. These tools are here for your help to turn your photos into professional photos. These softwares are making your life easy and professional.
