Bossier parish authorities are currently handling the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) on account of the parish residents that experienced severe damages throughout the three flooding events that occurred from the beginning of 2009.

Butch Ford, the parish engineer stated that about $3.2 million will be demanded locally to purchase residences that have been labeled to suffer constant loss.

He informed the members of the jury that they typically have three available pots of money for Hazard Mitigation Trust Funds between 2009, 2015 as well as 2016 and $2 million was generated between 2009 and 2015.

Ford indicated that ten more homeowners from 2016 are looking to participate in the prospective buyout program which seems like an extra $1.1 million is what is required for buyouts.

An outline of the mitigation funds must be provided before Feb. 13 and as indicated t by Ford that alternative funds would be sought for in case some requests were not approved.
