Bossier parish authorities are currently handling the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) on account of the parish residents that experienced severe damages throughout the three flooding events that occurred from the beginning of 2009.
Butch Ford, the parish engineer stated that about $3.2 million will be demanded locally to purchase residences that have been labeled to suffer constant loss.
He informed the members of the jury that they typically have three available pots of money for Hazard Mitigation Trust Funds between 2009, 2015 as well as 2016 and $2 million was generated between 2009 and 2015.
Ford indicated that ten more homeowners from 2016 are looking to participate in the prospective buyout program which seems like an extra $1.1 million is what is required for buyouts.
An outline of the mitigation funds must be provided before Feb. 13 and as indicated t by Ford that alternative funds would be sought for in case some requests were not approved.
Ford stated that it is being handled and he made a promise that the application of anyone who reaches out to them for registration (for mitigation funds) will be submitted.
Also, during its normal meeting, the police jury:
- Assigned Doug Rogers to fill the vacant slot for Bossier’s Parish District Communications District 1.
- Planned public hearings for the approval of the intended developments of Willow Chute Estate Subdivision 1, Miller Acres Subdivision, and Andrys Acres Subdivision.
- Endorsed a modification in a plan for combined waterworks/sewerage district 1, north Bossier Parish Region.
- Authorized publicizing for demands for the proposition of the Bossier Parish Police Jury financial operator for April 1 through April 1, 2019; solicitations to be gotten on Feb. 24.
- Approved a joint undertaking agreement between Bossier Parish, the area Educational committee, and the city of Bossier.
- Approved the accomplishment of the Louisiana compliance poll regarding the 2016 review of the ward police jury's monetary records.
- Implemented an objective in support of Lyndon B. Johnson in his political decision to be a part of the official leading group of the state police jury association.
