Why do we use vector clipart and where to download it?

In most cases, our document will be very enriched if it incorporates photographs, graphics, and any other object that supports its content with more visual material. That is why each new version takes care to improve the illustration tools, facilitating their insertion and their retouching and adjustment.

The elements that Word consists of are found are as follows:

- Clipart. They are images that Word incorporates in a library organized by categories. These images are mostly built using vectors, which allows them to be made larger or smaller without losing resolution. Cartoon clipart can also be ungrouped into the elements that form them, make changes and re-group them (except those that are based on a photograph).

- Bitmap images. Photographic images from digital cameras, from the Internet, from programs such as Photoshop, Gimp, Fireworks, PaintShopPro, etc. They are usually JPG or GIF type. On these images, you can perform some operations such as changing the size, brightness, but they cannot be ungrouped into the elements that make them up. They are made up of points or pixels that each have a color and a position but are not related to each other. These images allow size changes, but sometimes, if we reduce them and then try to enlarge them again, they can lose resolution. When we talk about images, in general, we will be referring to this type of non-vector images.

- Drawings created with Word. By means of auto forms, lines, rectangles, ellipses, etc. These graphics are vector.

- SmartArt. Representation of data in the form of organization charts.

- Graphics. Representation of data in graphical form.

Vector images are built from vectors. Vectors are mathematically formed objects. A vector is defined by a series of points that have handles with which you can control the shape of the line they create by being joined together. The main elements of a vector are the curves (curves represented mathematically).

These lines or curves are very manageable since they allow many possibilities due to their plasticity. These characteristics make them the ideal way to work when it comes to graphic design, (such as creating logos or drawings). Their versatility makes them a very useful way to also work with texts since they can be modified and deformed without limit, each letter can be assigned editable contours in addition to being able to decompose it into several objects.

The curve is defined by the nodes or anchor points and by the control handles that define and model its shape. To modify them, you just have to move the hands until we get the desired curve.

JPEG (Joint photographic expert group)
If the GIF format is one of the most suitable for compression in 256 colors, JPEG is suitable for images that contain more than 256. JPEG is not a proper image format but a compression format; In contrast to GIF, JPEG stores all the information regarding color in millions of colors and without the resulting file being too large, that is, the higher the compression level, the greater the loss of the image.
