LONDON.- A historic sale of rare vintage wines provided by Marchesi Antinori, one of the oldest Italian family-owned fine wine producers, directly from the prestigious Tenuta Tignanello estate, will take place at Christie’s King Street as part of the Finest and Rarest Wines Featuring Tignanello’s 50th Anniversary Collection Direct From The Estate live auction, taking place on 26 and 27 November. This exceptional auction will showcase nearly every vintage of the iconic Super-Tuscan Tignanello, including its debut 1971 vintage (first released in 1974), as well as a rare barrique of the 2024 vintage - a first for Christie’s from an Italian wine estate. Marchesi Antinori will also offer a collection of large formats, ranging from magnums to a 12-litre size. This auction celebrates the 50th anniversary release of Tignanello 1971, a pioneering wine that played a major role in the rise of the world-renowned “Super Tuscan” movement, redefining the landscape of fine wine.

Featuring 40 lots directly from the private cellar of the estate in Tuscany, each highlights the storied history and evolution of one of the world’s most respected wines. The collection spans five decades and includes an exceptional vertical selection of vintages, with all but the 1975 vintage represented, in a variety of bottle formats including magnums, double-magnums, and even one 15-litre bottle - unprecedented in Tignanello’s production.

Highlights include:

Three Bottles of the 1971 Vintage: Never before released by the estate for auction, these exceedingly rare bottles represent a pivotal moment in wine history.

The 50th Anniversary "Super Lot": This exclusive lot features the 2021 vintage—celebrated as Tignanello's anniversary release—with a complete set of six bottles, one magnum, one double-magnum, one six-litre, and one twelve-litre. This lot also includes an exclusive private visit to the estate with a tasting, lunch, dinner and overnight stay at Tenuta Tignanello. The buyer of this spectacular lot will travel with a return flight on a Flexjet Praetor 600 private jet flown from their chosen departure point in Europe, to Florence, Italy. The exclusive transfer, aboard one of their luxurious aircraft, is provided by Flexjet, the global private aviation leader. Guests will have the chance to experience the distinctive service and amenities that have enabled the company to become one of the world’s leading providers of fractional ownership aircraft, leasing, and jet card services.

A Barrique of the 2024 Vintage: The sale will offer a 225-litre barrique that will mature at the estate, with the successful buyer selecting their preferred bottle formats, as well as receiving a unique 15-litre bottle - the one and only 15 litre ever released by Tignanello. All bottles crafted from the 2024 vintage barrique will be personalized.

Tim Triptree MW, Christie’s International Director of Wine commented: “We are thrilled to present a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to acquire extremely rare bottles and unique formats of Tignanello, directly from the legendary Tuscan estate. The Tignanello vintages from 1971 to 1989 have recently been verified, reconditioned and recorked, and therefore are in pristine condition and guaranteed to delight the successful buyers. It has been a pleasure to work with the Marchesi Antinori team to bring this remarkable collection to auction to celebrate Tignanello’s 50th anniversary.”

Piero Antinori continues: “This year was very important for me and my family as it gave us the opportunity to pay tribute to a wine that has given us so much over the last 50 years. To end this year on a high note, we are delighted to offer our wine lovers a unique collection of our Tignanello, pulled directly from its cellar, including the extremely rare 1971 first vintage and the en-primeur 2024. Collaborating with Christie’s for this auction has been a true pleasure.”
